How I Learned to Accept the Permanence of Adaptation
Daily writing prompt
Describe one positive change you have made in your life.

I am accepting that I will always need to adapt. It took a long time to get to this, mostly because I always thought that I had a plan for my life and that plan was the most important thing and should not be deviated from. But as I got older, I saw the flaw in my thought patterns.
I learned that since the world is constantly changing, adaptability is important for one’s own survival and growth as a person. It’s also part of being human.

I quickly learned that my plans were very different after graduating college and looking for a job. My lessons in college were primarily foundational. Everything was very textbook and structured. It didn’t incorporate the business and money-making aspects of working on a project with other non-departments, companies, and agencies. What was expected in the job market was very different from what I expected to do when I was learning my studies. I had not understood that every position or job would involve business and project management. Something my education barely covered in engineering.

Advancements in technology in my engineering field have not changed as fast as I would have expected in other fields. Thanks to advancements in technology, I have more work, lol. That aside, I’m looking at advancements in AI with a critical eye. I wouldn’t say I like AI for the ethical reason that the developers scraped the internet to build the model, but It’s here, and I have to learn it. So far, it has been helpful, but I still hate it and I have to accept that it will change everything, but it also gives me even more work.

Adaptability is crucial for personal growth and success in an ever-changing world. It improves problem-solving skills, helps maintain work-life balance, and enables one to embrace a growth mindset. Being ready to adapt and learn opens doors to new opportunities and relationships.

I encourage everyone to embrace change and the skill to adjust. You never know how being flexible and ready for change can add positive aspects to your life.
