Living a sustainable lifestyle is something I strive for in my daily routines, especially in my household practices. It all begins with careful consideration before making any purchases. I often reassess items I already own to decide if I really need something new. I find that impulse buying can be a challenge, particularly when I feel overwhelmed by space constraints.
My small kitchen is a pain. There’s hardly any storage for pantry items, which leads to clutter. I constantly evaluate whether I can manage without certain items or if they’re genuinely necessary. If I find that my time could be better spent elsewhere, I decide to buy it. For instance, I recently purchased an extra cabinet to alleviate the mess and frustration caused by cluttered floors. This decision improved my kitchen’s order. It also had a positive impact on my mental health. I am now capable of keeping track of my food items better.
I’ve had to reconsider my love for comics and books. This is due to limited shelf space. I made a rule for myself to have just one small shelf for my books and another for my kids. This means any new book buy must hold significant meaning for us. As a result, I mostly rely on streaming services and library borrowing for my content needs. Additionally, I’ve amassed a large collection of books, which I recognize I will never fully read. This realization has led me to limit my acquisition of physical books to avoid further clutter.
