I’m starting my webcomic again! I’ve mentioned this on Tumblr a few times before. But, this is the first time I’m discussing it on my blog. I am shy when talking about my stories. This particular story is one I began a while ago but then set aside.
The story is about a woman who inherits secrets that threaten a powerful leadership. She quickly finds herself entangled in a conflict between two schools of magic: Alchemy and Magehood.
I really love reading comics, but I took a long break. An existential crisis regarding my art, influenced by social media and AI, made it difficult for me to draw this story. I wrote about it here, Lessons from Star Trek: Embracing Art in a Changing World. I realized that just creating this comic makes me happy. That is enough of a reason to continue it on.
This story continues where I left off. Emory and Crystal are walking around in a town that looks eerily empty. There are changes in the art style since I took a three-year-long break from drawing the characters. Consistently getting back into their design has been a struggle. It’s so challenging that my next comic project, after Crystal Visions, will feature a modern environment and design. Finding historical references can be a challenging and time-consuming task. I’ve tried to stick with the same watercolor look, but the app and techniques I’m using have made the changes very obvious. I also had to make some adjustments because I have less time to draw and color.
Because of those time constraints, I am updating the comic once a month. I don’t spend more than 1.5 hours a week on a page. This means that a page gets finished once a month. I would love to spend more time on it, but this is a passion project and not my full-time job, so it is what it is. It will be updated July 18.

I’m publishing it on ComicFury at https://www.crystalvisionscomic.com. I really hope you follow along and give it a read.
