It’s been a while since I last posted. July was a busy month for me as I gave birth to my daughter. Now I’m a mother of three! I spent most of the month healing and trying not to take on too much. During this time, I reflected on my life goals and the things I want to accomplish for this blog in the next year.
I’m happy that I invested time in practicing my writing through this blog. It has kept me motivated, helped me learn more about myself, and improved my writing for work. When I first started, it would take me an entire hour to write just one paragraph. I lacked confidence in my writing and constantly doubted my thoughts, which made the writing process frustrating and stressful. At work, I used to send emails with grammar and spelling errors that recipients mistook for scam emails. Now, I’m faster and more confident in writing and editing my work. It still takes me an hour to write something coherent, but I can now write two paragraphs.
I’ve realized that I need to enhance my public speaking skills. While working on the blog, I found that I needed more time to brainstorm and plot as a fiction writer. Consequently, I started writing about what I know, as it was easier to write quickly within my 5 to 15-minute weekly writing sessions between home life and work responsibilities.
I intend to continue with this approach but plan to incorporate more audio or video into my blogs to practice my speaking skills. I’ll first experiment with audio and video to see which one I’m more comfortable with and have time for. This will help me be more consistent with updates from now on.
