My Decor Choices Say I’m Between Minimalism and Maximalism

There are always new things happening in my house. That is my polite way of expressing that my home is perpetually disorganized. When company comes over to just visit.

I stress over what my home looks like. Mostly in terms of interior design style. I have a dream Pinterest looks that often contradict one another. While I like a clean look with only the things you need as a minimalist. I also like having lots color and art in my home, which is typical of a maximalist.

The only style in eras that I can think of that matches that look is maybe an industrial style/bohemian mix. Anyway, I have a crazy way of decorating my rooms, and it’s gotten even worse since I became a mom.

I like seeing colorful toys that my kids play with. I honestly play with them too, with my kids of course, and I think about the art and science that goes into them. From plush toys to colorful racing cars.

I can honestly say that I also decorate my home with my kids toys. The plush toys for my daughter are on the couch, and my son’s RC and Hot Wheels cars are on the bookshelves and some of the counters. I love seeing them.

So, I suppose the only reason I feel this way about the way my house looks is because of social media and comparing myself to an ideal that doesn’t reflect who I really am.

They are so fun though 🤣. My kids are the best excuse to play like a kid again.
